Ontario Fishing Lodge - Lookout Point Lodge - Gowganda, Ontario
FISHING
For those looking to land the "big one," Gowganda Lake is the place to be. With a multitude of bays, islands, rivers and points, the fishing possibilities are limitless, while the pressure remains extremely light. Try your luck at landing walleye up to twelve-pounds, smallmouth bass that can attain weights of six-pounds and northerns that tip the scales at eleven-pounds. Not to mention the whitefish or chunky pan-sized perch that always constitute a tasty treat over the fire. Smallmouth bass reign supreme in these parts, (they are the most commonly-caught fish), and our lake is the first stop on the Northeastern Ontario Bass Association's annual tournament. This reinforces how good the fishing can be!
We also have a back lake at our disposal that offers excellent pike and walleye fishing. This remote destination is a day trip from camp, offering solitude and a shore lunch that just can't be beat.
Our rental boats consist of 14 1/2 foot Mirrorcraft and Deep Fisherman Naden's. Each is equipped with dependable 15 HP Yamaha motors, as well as comfortable swivel seats. Also available to our guests is a 16-foot bass boat, complete with carpeted floors, aerated live well, trolling motor and a trusty 60 HP Yamaha. Docking is also provided for those wishing to bring their own crafts to camp. We, like you, also love to fish, and spend a great deal of time on the water, so feel free to quiz us on productive spots and lucky lures - we are always more than willing to share our secrets. (Be prepared to marvel at our fish cleaning station - we guarantee it is one of the cleanest and most modern facilities that you've ever crossed paths with.)
